About Me

Hi, I’m Nived Lakshman, a 17-year-old senior at Downingtown East High School, and I’m deeply committed to making a difference in the lives of my peers. My top priority is leading efforts to spread mental health awareness and prevent suicide among high school students.

I have advocated for changes to our Student Suicide Prevention, collaborating with multiple school districts to reduce a staggering number of student suicides. Taking advantage of teenage social dynamics, we can teach our students how to see the signs in other students on the edge. Now, I need your help. I am seeking students to help me by creating their own suicide prevention symposiums in their own school. Together, we can make student suicide a thing of the past. Saving one life is worth the effort.

Beyond my work in suicide prevention, I’m also passionate about volunteering in the community. I lead the Horizon Networks Club, which focuses on engaging senior citizens in the community, making sure that they are comfortable in the last years of their lives. In addition, I currently work on comprehensive Domestic Violence Policy in the PA State Senate, making sure that PA Families are safe.

With over 500 hours of community service and two Presidential Volunteering Service Awards, I’ve dedicated myself to making a meaningful impact. Now, I’m looking to connect with like-minded students who share my passion for mental health and are ready to join me in this critical mission. Together, we can lead the charge in creating a more aware and compassionate school community.
